6/12/2009 – Can the stainless steel mixing/stirring rod be used in hot liquid like for stirring in dry malt extract?
Response From Homebrew Heaven: Yes, I beleve can. I'd never thought of using it that way, but it should work well...I should caution you about splashing, especially if it's hot! Also about electric drills around liquids.

Response From Homebrew Heaven: No, sorry. Have never seen such a thing. This product works well for the purpose, however:

4/7/2006 – I recieved my wine de-gassing stir rod. In the pic it shows somethong at the top of rod, but nothing like that in package,is this a bung or something else i need. Also in the instructions it says the stir blades rotate in opposite direction, should i set my drill to reverse? It says to stir for 10 to 15 seconds, but my wine kit says stir for . . .
Response From Homebrew Heaven: The photo is of an older model, sorry. There is nothing at the top of yours. It is not needed anyway. The blades rotate in the same direction (not sure why the instructions say that!!). Whether they rotate in the clockwise, or counterclockwise direction is not at all important. Your wine sure doesn't know or care about the difference! The . . .
3/15/2005 – I would like to filter hops, fruit etc. while I siphon into my fermenter. Would any of your screens work well when attached to a siphon hose? Do you have any other suggestions outside of a tapped kettle connected to a bazooka screen?
Response From Homebrew Heaven: The real problem will be getting the stuff thru your siphon hose. If you are willing to pour the wort:In our Brewing Accessories category we have a variety of straining bags that might well serve this purpose. There are also funnels with straining screens that can be used.
