I am brand new to home brewing and need to know exactly what I should buy to get started. I just want to begin to try to make my own beer and then continue to refine it over time. Please let me know exactly what I need to buy to make my first batch! Thanks.

I'm new to home Brewing and only used a Mr Beer kit...It was a gift. I want to step it up and try out the Deluxe kit you guys sell. I've got some questions:
Will the beer I make taste a lot better than the Mr Beer stuff? I like dark, malty and high ABV beer. Do you have a recipe kit thats close to that?
Last question, do you guys have a military discount? I've been reading about other beer kits . . .

I am recomending a new kit for a friend. I bought your deluxe kit years ago and am quite happy. Your beer brewing kits do not list a brew kettle but they claim to have everything you need. Is this an omission?

I am very new to brewing and am looking into many types of kits. It seems that yours has most of what we want but we are confused on a bottling bucket. Many friends tell us we need to have a bottling bucket in order to brew and we are not sure if this kit has one or has a way to make one from it or anything? If you could let us know as soon as possible that would be great. Thanks,

I used to make my own beer and lost my store for ingredients.(Great to come across your site)
What kegging system comes with the kegging kit, and what is included?

I love your website, but I have a question. Can I use the same brewing equipment for beer and wine, or should i have one for each? I am concerned that the plastic fermentor may absorb the beer flavor, and that the flavor will then taint my wine. Will a good cleaning prevent this, or would i be better off ordering two breweries?

I i buy the deluxe kegger kit why would I need a extra refer???? I live in Pomeroy and even in the summer the basement is cool. I like room temp ales ect. Its not a requirement to cool it down to American dog piss temps is it?

I received the deluxe brewing kit for xmas, and I look forward to brewing my first batch. The kit came with a 6-gallon primary fermentor with lid. You mention in a couple help desk tickets that you should pound the lid onto the bucket to ensure a good seal. This makes sense, but do you pry it off when you transfer to the secondary fermenter or for cleaning? My concern is that the lid might break . . .

I want to buy the beer brewing kit but I don't have that good of a stovetop and I want to brew inside. Do you think I will be able to reach the right temperature for beer brewing with a mediocre stove?

How large is the keg that comes with the Deluxe brewing Kit.

On the standard bucket fermenters that come with your kits, where is the 5-gallon mark relative to the bottom plastic "ring" near the top of the bucket?

I was leaning towards the SUPER DELUXE kit. My only concern is not being able to share my beer with friends/family. Is there anything lost in the beer if after it is kegged it is then poured into bottles and capped? Or should I bottle a small batch 1st and keg the rest?

What about a kegging kit for people that have everything else?

I believe this question was covered by an earlier post, but I want to 100% sure. I currently have a kegerator with all the equipment (CO2, tap, etc) to tap an standard american keg. I want to start brewing beer. Is this the kit for me to begin homebrewing or do I need more or less equipment?

Does the SUPER Deluxe Brewing Equipment Kit (with KEG System!) also come with the bottling equipment that the deluxe brewing equipment kit does?

First of all I want to say I love your site. I really enjoy reading all the questions and answers as they seem to always answer MY questions. I just purchased the deluxe kit with kegging system and was planning on buying a compact refrigerator that will accomodate the corny keg. I was planning on putting the CO2 cylinder inside as well if I can find one that is big enough, but the booklet that comes . . .

What is the approximate packaging dimensions of the Deluxe Kit? Also, this is obviously more complex and looks more promising than a brewing kit like MrBeer.com but what main advantages does this one have over something like that? Thank you.

Hi, I have been thinking about brewing for a couple of months now and I decided to do it. I am going to buy the super deluxe kit with keg system, but before that I have a couple of quastions. 1) If I brew a 5 gallon batch can I bottle some and keg the rest? 2) Is it ok to brew outside? The reason I am asking this is because of sanitation reasons. For the formenting stage I plan on puttng the bucket . . .

I was thinking of buying the set with kegging. Minus the beer ingredients do I need to buy any extra equipment for using hops or grains, or will the equipment suit any beer I make? Also, does the kit come with good instructions on how to use it? Also, what are the dimensions of the keg? And, it does have to be refrigated? I wish I did not have to spend so much. But, does kegging make it quicker to . . .

I'm excited to say that I'll be brewing my first batch of beer this weekend, using my new Homebrew Heaven Deluxe Kit. A few quick questions:
(1) I've read that you should affix an overflow hose for active fermentation, but the instructions merely reference to using the airlock - advice? Not sure I have the proper tubing for an overflow device... (2) How long does the beer stay in the carboy before . . .
11/25/2007

A follow up question on the size of the Cornelius keg... you mentioned that the kegs are ~25" high, but how deep are they (i.e., diameter)? The fridge that I'm envisioning converting into a kegerator has a ledge on the bottom that has prevented my previous kegerating efforts. Also, would it affect the beer/carbonation if the keg has to rest diagonally within the fridge to fit? Thanks!

Finally a site that is easy to use, nice job!
I've never brewed in my life. I've wanted to for the last few years, but up until recently, I didn't have the space for a brew kit because I was living in a very small apartment. I've got a large garage now that I'd prefer to brew in that isn't heated and I live in Illinois. I'm looking to go with a dual keg setup because I have a bar set up with . . .

I would like to order the deluxe kit with the parts needed to put together a 2-tap, coverted frigerator system, including taps, drip tray, tee's, ect... Can this be added to my order and the parts that I don't need removed?

Thank you for the quick response. Another few questions. If I have an extra keg, do I need to keep CO2 on the one I am not using? Is there any thing else you would recommend shipping with this kit to make the brewing process easier? Do you still add the priming sugar for carbonation, when you fill the keg?

I would like to have one keg tapped and one ready to go once that one is finished, what do I need to add to the kit to make this happen?

Wow, Thanks for the speedy answer's too Q&A.

Hi! My boyfriend keeps talking about wanting to start brewing his own beer. So, I figured I'd get him everything he needs for this for his birthday. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that entails. Do I just get him the deluxe with the ingredients for both of our favorite beers? Or does he need more than that to start? Thanks!

I am interested in the kegging system, but can it be used with natural carbonation methods, or must the CO2 be artifically injected? Also, if I want to make 10 gallons at the time, which parts/containers will I need extras of? thanks for the great site!

I am planning on buying the deluxe or super deluxe package to start brewing beer this summer. I want to do it in my apartment, but I don't have too much space. How much space do you think I will need, and do you think it might smell up my apartment? What is the best way for a first time brewer to start up and start producing good beer?

I recently purchased the Super Delux Homebrewing Kit and I am on my way to produce some of your very good basic beer. Since I have the kegging system, I was wondering if I needed to add the priming sugar in the end to give the beer its carbonation? Or will the co2 in the keg be enough to carbonate it. Love the site by the way.

Hi,I ordered the super deluxe keg system. I have a 20 qt stock pot. How should I proceed? 5 gal would be right at the rim - could be a mess when boiling. Should I boil up 4 gal with the ingredients and then add another gal in the fermenter? Will this hurt the quality of the brew?

Hi, I want to get the deluxe kit with the keg and was wondering if i needed anything additional to serve the beer. What I mean is, will it come out of the keg and into a glass without anything else but what comes with the kit. Great site!

I just ordered the super deluxe keg system. I know you recommend a large boilpot. I will be cooking inside on my kitchen stove, will a normal stove be able to generate enough heat to keep a large pot (6 gal) at a rolling boil or should I get an outside gas setup? Thanks for your help. Looking forward to brewing first batch!

I already have a beer dispenser system with an American Sankey tap and 7.5 pound CO2 bottle. I looked through your question/answers and saw that you mentioned the "cobrahead" tap, but didn't find any information regarding sankey-style taps. Do you offer any adapter for your 5-gallon kegs for a sankey fitting? Thanks!

I'm interested in the kegging system with th co2 tank. 1. Do you recommend filtering the beer first to eliminate any sediment in the keg. 2. will the co2 tank and keg all fir in a refrigerator.

If you brew 5 gal. and use the keg system, how long does the beer stay good until finishing it after tapping the keg? I am not in my 20's anymore and my wife is not much help and I only like to share on the weekends.

I am interested in the super deluxe kit and I was wondering about kegs. I have never brewed beer, but many members of my family have and I do have a spare fridge to keep the keg. So, that is why I think spending the extra money now may be a better way to go. How hard are they to clean? Are all the cleaning supplies with the kit?

I am preparing to buy my first brew kit and step into the wonderful world of brewing. With that being said, is there a specific size kettle i need to fit into the wort chiller? I assume you put the chiller around the kettle and run cold water through it. If you could run me through the process of using the chiller that would be great. thanks, rob lurie

Hi. I have been homebrewing for about a year. Only one one occasion did my brews taste and look anything but wonderful. I am interested in starting to brew some beers for competitions in my area, but I am concerned that I may actually still be quite novice and naive. When will I get to the point where I KNOW my brew is good, instead of merely thinking that it is? I know--a tough question. All . . .

what type of tap system does the keg use? I have a kegerator with a ball tap. Would I be able to brew the beer, put it in the keg and then tap it in my kegerator or would I need a special tap?

I've brewed before and want to do so again, but I would like to try kegging this time--I never liked bottling... Given that you don't offer a kit for keggers, what will I need to get set up for my first batch (an IPA, for instance). I have a decent brewpot, but nothing else.

i am new to this, and i have seen and heard of people using plastic buckets for final fermentation, their purpose for doing this is so they can attach a spigot to the bucket for bottling, is this ok to do or is glass the better choice? thanx again and i find that you question and answer part of the site to be very helpful

As someone new to homebrewing, I have made quite a few batches with my small kit that was given as a gift, and I am hooked. A few questions as I buy my starter kit:
1) What is it that the fermenter does that the carboy doesn't, and vice versa.
2) I see that some kits come with two fermenter buckets and no carboy. Could I use two carboys with the same success.
3) What would be the purpose of having an extra carboy or fermenter bucket rather than just one of each.
4) What makes a kit a "dual fermenter" or . . .

A friend of mine who used to homebrew wine and beer in the 1970s told me the the B.A.T.F. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) limits you to brewing something like 5 gallons per year for personal use. (It may have been more than that, it was a long time ago when he told me this and I forgot the fine details) He also said if you brew more than that, you have to pay taxes on it or they can charge . . .
