(1) If i was to just buy a 3 gallon bottle (the kind you buy at a grocery store to dispense water at home) would i have to worry about flavors from one batch carrying over to another batch? (2) What size stopper do the one gallon jugs take? i'm sure that i could just buy jugs of cider and keep the . . .

5/28/2009 -- I just made my 1st batch of beer (Diamond Knot IPA). As I was siphoning from the fermentor into the carboy I noticed the red tip had come off. Are ther replacements for these, or do I need to replace the entire racking cane. I just got the kit and thought it strange it would fall off. By the way love the kit and am looking forward to drinking the beer. Hmmm what to try next!

And is a carboy with a spigot a better alternative to my sedimentary adventures?
