Dry malt extract is a great brewing product. Many people are familiar with using malt extract syrups, but have never tried the dry version, called DME (Dry Malt Extract). This is the malt sugar that yeast turns into beer! DME is exactly the same product as malt extract syrup, but with the REST of the water removed. Because of this, it is easier to store, cheaper to ship and for you to use. Dry malt doesn't fall to the bottom of your brewpot and cause scorching. It takes a little stirring to get it to dissolve, but we like it a lot. Because the water is removed, you only need to use about 80% (by weight) of what you need when using malt extract syrups. |
