For the determination of sulfite in wine. ***NOT FOR USE WITH RED WINES THAT CONTAIN TANNIN*** From CHEMetrics, this test kit contains 10 ampules (titrets) that are used as a screening method throughout the wine making industry. Results are expressed as free SO2 (sulfur dioxide), from 10-100 ppm. Requires one ampule per test. A titret holder is required to use this equipment. Sulphites are your friend. Not only do they keep wine from developing infections like film yeast, mold, and acetobacter (vinegar bacteria), they also keep the wine from oxidizing. Without the use of sulphites, you have to be terrifically careful to keep all of your equipment very sanitary, and you still have to drink your wine up as quickly as possible before it spoiled. If you are concerned about the use of sulphites in wine or other food products get a copy of our handout 'Sulphite Facts'. The sulphite testing kits we sell measure the amount of free sulfur dioxide in a solution. Depending on the pH of the wine being tested, the free sulfur dioxide level should be between 35 and 50 parts per million (PPM). At 100 to 200 PPM sulphites start to be noticeable as a sulfury odour that can almost catch in the back of your throat. Some people, women in particular, have a better sense of smell and can detect it in slightly lower amounts. Testing is important because you should know the level of sulphites before you bottle your wine Too little and the wine might spoil; too much and the taste will be bad. If you are used to putting in the half teaspoon of sulphite per 5 gallons of wine maybe you won't want to bother with the testing kit. However, if you want to take greater control over the quality of your home made wine, this kit is an effective and easy start.

Hydrometer, Triple Scale -- Used for determining gravity and alcohol levels. Tells when it's safe to bottle. Three easy to read scales marked in SG from .990-1.170 in .002 increments. It's also important to have a hydrometer if you call us at Homebrew Heaven with a question.
Wine (Sugar Scale) Hydrometer -- This hydrometer indicates how much sugar is necessary to add to achive a given alcohol percentage (for 5 gallon batches). At the end of fermentation, it also measures alcohol percentage, from 2 to 20%.Very handy for winemaking.
Hydrometer Test Jar -- Float your hydrometer in it. Allows accurate sighting of readings. Clear plastic with base. Inside Dia. 1 3/8" X 10" tall
Digital pH Meter -- Electronic pH meter. Easy to read and use. Proper acidity in a wine is of the utmost importance. . Wine low in acidity is most always flat, medicinal, and insipid. Wine that is overly acidic is usually tart. **Requires calibrating solution**
Accuvin Ph Test Kit -- pH Quick Tests - Making pH Monitoring Efficient for Everyone
Acid Test Kit - Titration -- The flavor of the wine has to be balanced. If there is too much acid the wine will be puckering and sour. If there is too little acid, the wine will taste flat and insipid, what wine writers like to call 'flabby'. (Click for details & instructions)
Sodium Hydroxide Refill -- Refill for acid test kit. Contains sodium hydroxide
Accuvin L-Lactic Acid Test Kit -- The L-Lactic Acid Kit is intended for measuring the L-lactic acid in wines to ensure that malolactic fermentation has begun.
Accuvin Residual Sugar Test Kit -- Used to estimate the amount of sugar left in your wine AFTER fermentation. The ACCUVIN Residual Sugar Kit tests only for fructose and glucose sugars, the sugars reduced in primary fermentation. The test range is 100 - 2,000 mg/L.
Acid Test Paper for Wine -- 100 pH test strips. Specially for wines. Test range is pH 2.8 - 4.4 Proper acidity in a wine is of the utmost importance. . Wine low in acidity is most always flat, medicinal, and insipid. Wine that is overly acidic is usually tart. Measure your pH!
Indicator Solution -- Refill for acid testing kit. Contains phenolphthalein.
Precision Ph Test Strips - pkg of 50 -- Tests pH in the range of 1-14
Vinoferm Precision Vinometer -- German made, PRECISION tool. The scale is from 4-15% alcohol by volume. MUCH easier to read, using a blue indicator on a yellow background. Accuracy is to 0.5% alcohol.
Vinometer -- A vinometer is used to measure alcohol in finished wines. If you didn't take your original gravity reading on your beer or wine, you can give it a try. The trouble with vinometers is that they're not very accurate and only really work in a narrow range .
Wine Thief 1 Pc. Pyrex -- NEW!! Clear Pyrex. 24" slanted handle. Dip into wine, cover the end with your thumb, withdraw sample. Works WAY better than a baster for withdrawing your sample.
Wine Thief Self-Filling, Return -- Draws sample allowing you to take hydrometer (and other) readings. Releases sample back into fermentor when done. Nifty, useful equipment item!
Titret Holder -- Used to hold the SO2 ampules
